Game Appearances
Void Quest appears as a pixelated dungeon, representing Mitsuo Kubo's yearning for his childhood where, through video games, he could be a hero and save the world.[1]
Each floor of this dungeon, called a Chapter, has a text box that represents a part of Mitsuo's life:
- Chapter 1: Text asks for the player's name, "Mitsuo" is automatically filled in
- Chapter 2: Mitsuo encounters someone who calls him a rotten orange and defeats him with a disciplinary blow
- Chapter 3: Has a quote from Shin Megami Tensei where the protagonist's mother wakes him up and asks him to go buy coffee in a shopping center
- Chapter 4: Female Announcer appears and Mitsuo attacks her
- Chapter 5: Corpse Discoverer appears and Mitsuo attacks her
- Chapter 6: Garbled text
- Chapter 7: Has the quote from Shin Megami Tensei again, but this time the text is in a different order and less coherent
- Chapter 8: The person who called Mitsuo a rotten orange appears again, revealed to be Kinshiro Morooka, but this time Mitsuo kills him
- Chapter 9: Garbled text
Mitsuo also has stats that increase as these text boxes appear, such as "Emptiness". On the last floor, the Investigation Team find Mitsuo and his Shadow. There, Mitsuo insists that he is the murderer. Mitsuo does not outright reject his Shadow like the others, but his Shadow transforms and attacks the group after saying that Mitsuo isn't going to accept it. After the boss fight, Mitsuo continues to brag about being the murderer, and his Shadow disappears on its own.
If Void Quest is not cleared by August 12th, Yosuke Hanamura will call the protagonist and say that Mitsuo was found dead. Yosuke is confused by this, wondering if Mitsuo perhaps entered the TV World as a way to commit suicide.

Trivia
- In Persona 4 Golden, Shadow Mitsuo's battle theme is a chiptune demake of "I'll Face Myself -Battle-" called "Revelations: Mitsuo". In the original Persona 4 game, it uses "I'll Face Myself -Battle-" like the other standard bosses.
