Profile

Origin

An incubus (plural incubuses or incubi) is a demon in the form of a human man that lies down on or has sexual intercourse with sleeping women. Medieval European tradition holds that Merlin was born from the relationship of an incubus with a mortal woman.

The term is derived from the Latin incubō ("I lie upon"). In Late Latin, the term incubus referred to a nightmare attributed to a demon lying down on the sleeper.

Design

In Shin Megami Tensei, Incubus is portayed as a humanoid demon with a goat head and legs, a white beard, dark red skin and a cape.

In Shin Megami Tensei if..., Incubus is portrayed as a blue-skinned anthropomorphic demon with wings, horns, pointed ears, a spade-tipped tail and feet with two sharp toes. He wears a long yellow codpiece with red hearts.

His design since Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner resembles his Shin Megami Tensei: if... portrayal, though his head is larger, his face is less demonic and he has antennae in place of horns. Since Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, Incubus's skin color is pink and the codpiece is red and black. In the Chinese version of Persona 5: The Phantom X, Incubus has no codpiece and his lower half is covered with black pants.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne

When the Demi-fiend accesses the previously blocked lower floors of the Assembly of Nihilo, he comes across members of the Nihilo, a Koppa and an Incubus, mocking the Mantra for being fooled into thinking they destroyed the Assembly's core. The two then notice the Demi-fiend's presence and, thinking he is there to kill Hikawa, attack him. They drop the Yellow Kila upon defeat.
