Origin
Girimekhala is the elephant mount of Mara in Theravada Buddhist tradition, said to be 250 yojana in size.[1][2][3] Siddhartha Gautama brings Girimekhala to its knees when the whole earth resounds as a witness for him.[3]

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne
When the Demi-fiend confronts Sakahagi at Yoyogi Park, the manikin uses all the magatsuhi he gathered to summon a Girimekhala to get rid of him.[4] Right after the demon is defeated, Sakahagi jumps into the fight to deal with the Demi-fiend himself.
Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax
In the Fifth Kalpa, locked behind a golden door requiring that Metatron be recruited, is a hole to a floor with a Shady Broker that sells an enhanced Girimekhala.[a]
Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner
If a Girimehkala is left as the only remaining enemy in battle for a turn or two, there is a chance the Girimehkala interrupts the battle lamenting that it's finished, and will then will hear the footsteps of a "Colonel" and run away in fear. Then, a larger Girimehkala with a race name Sarge will appear as reinforcements. The Girimehkala acting a military trainer and says its duty is to devour the useless and that when it is done with the party, they will not be able to hunt or devour again. If the party's health is reduced too much by it's first attack, the Sarge will be extremely unimpressed and tell them to do more pushups before leaving.
Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner 2
The Sarge Girimehkala from Digital Devil Saga reappears in Digital Devil Saga 2. This time, when a Girimehkala is left as the only enemy left in battle and is also at critical health, there is a chance the Girimehkala will exclaim they are all dead meat, and run away, having heard the Sarge's footsteps. The Sarge Girimehkala then appears and say that it's orders are to devour all non-hackers without the "balls" to survive, and bans the party from being able to use any hunt skills before attacking them.
