Persona 2: Eternal Punishment is a 2000 role-playing game for the PlayStation, and the third entry in the Persona series. It was developed and published by Atlus and released on June 29, 2000 in Japan, and on November 30, 2000 in North America. A remaster of the game was released for the PlayStation Portable on May 17, 2012 in Japan.
Eternal Punishment is the direct sequel to the 1999 PlayStation game Persona 2: Innocent Sin. Despite this, Eternal Punishment was the second Persona title to be released in North America after Megami Ibunroku Persona (where it was titled Revelations: Persona) while Innocent Sin was skipped. The localization of Eternal Punishment therefore changed a number of details to reflect the localization changes in Revelations: Persona, mainly with regards to the renamed cast. Although the PlayStation Portable remaster of Innocent Sin did receive a release outside of Japan, the PlayStation Portable version of Eternal Punishment did not. In acknowledgement of this, the PlayStation version of Eternal Punishment was made available on the PlayStation Network in North America on February 26, 2013.[1]

PlayStation Portable
- A new side story quest called "Tatsuya's Scenario" is accessible from the Velvet Room after completing the GOLD dungeon. The story is split into 3 chapters that will only unlock after completing certain dungeons in the Nanjo route. If the player chose Elly's route then only the first chapter is unlocked due to the laboratory in Nanjo's route being a key dungeon to the story.
- An updated UI with customizable coloring has been added.
- The ability to toggle animation speeds. This appears in the English fan translation which classifies these as "REAL" for normal animations and "SIMPLE" for shortened animations.
- A new remixed soundtrack can be turned on/off in the settings.
- Cutscenes as well as music (the latter being unlocked after finishing the game) can be accessed in the title screen under the "Gallery" option. The EX Dungeon's gallery was the original way to access this in the PlayStation 1 version but has been removed in the PSP version since it is not needed anymore.
- Cutscenes can be skipped with the "Start" button on the controller.
- New Game+ now carries over Material Cards, yen, and casino coins.
- Active status effects from fortune telling and aromatherapy can be seen from the pause HUD.

The bad news is that unusual circumstances have prevented us from localizing Eternal Punishment PSP the way we’d have liked to, but the good news is that you can still find out how the story of Tatsuya Suou, Maya Amano, and the Joker curse ends! Unlike Innocent Sin, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment was localized once before on PlayStation in 2000, and it’s that version of the game that we’re bringing to PSN as a PSOne classic now."
