New Game+, also commonly referred to as New Game Plus, NG+, or New Cycle, is a recurring mechanic in the Megami Tensei franchise. New Game+ is a post-game gameplay mode that allows players to start a new game with certain saved data carried over and/or new content made available.

New Game+ should not be confused with post-end game content, where a game adds new content after or just prior to the ending on the same save file.

Overview

In games where New Game+ is available, the mode is provided after clearing a game's main story and reaching an ending. The game will then prompt the player if they want to create a save file or overwrite a preexisting one with New Game+ data added. Save files with New Game+ data often have special markers added to differentiate them from normal save files. In many Megami Tensei games with multiple endings, a marker is added for every ending the player has previously achieved, as well as recording the number of game cycles done.

The kind of data carried over and/or new content made available in a New Game+ depends on the game. Some games' New Game+ may carry over Demons or Personas saved to the Compendium, the protagonist's current level, their Demon team stock, money, items, and/or equipment. New content added may include new difficulty settings, additional Side Quests, and/or new optional bosses.
