Persona 5
An underteminate amount of time before Persona 5, Lavenza was created to be an attendant of the Velvet Room as an assistant to Igor. However, Yaldabaoth attacked Igor and split Lavenza into two beings known as Caroline and Justine. He then replaced Igor and stripped the two sisters of their memories, tricking them into working for the protagonist's downfall, and treating him as a prisoner. However, a piece of Lavenza's consciousness managed to escape and appear as a blue butterfly to the protagonist when he is first asked to remember his journey as a Phantom Thief up to that point, warning him of an upcoming doom.
From there, whenever the protagonist lays down on the bed in the Velvet Room cell, he will hear Lavenza trying to contact him, but her message is fragmented and incomplete. From November 25th to December 24th, the message is full and states that if her voice has reached him, she is most likely no more, yet believes he can overturn his fate and save the world from the ruin to come caused by his machinations, which are a result of Yaldabaoth's manipulation.
On December 24th, after the party loses their first fight against the Holy Grail, the protagonist will be sentenced to execution by the fake Igor, but the twins can't kill him in good conscience. This allows Lavenza's consciousness in the form of a butterfly to manifest and inform the twins about the entire ordeal, and that their mission is to help humanity, not punish it. After the fake Igor is revealed, the sisters then order to be fused back together, which the protagonist obliges, and the two take their true form as Lavenza reappears, whom dispells the fake Igor as the Holy Grail/Yaldabaoth. The protagonist will then be offered a deal by Yaldabaoth, which if he accepts results in a bad ending where the Qliphoth World and Tokyo are separated, but the general public will stay ignorant and the protagonist will reign over Tokyo, with Lavenza expressing her disappointment in him. However, if the protagonist rejects Yaldabaoth's offer, he will leave disgusted, bringing back Igor, while Lavenza compliments him on his resolve.
After the Holy Grail maniuplates the masses into forgetting about the Phantom Thieves, in turn erasing them from existence, Igor and Lavenza bring the Phantom Thieves back in the Velvet Room so the protagonist can motivate them to fight against the Holy Grail. After they're motivated, they join up at the center of the Velvet Room. There, Lavenza reveals the true identity of Morgana to the Thieves, and explains what the Holy Grail truly is and what they must do to defeat it. opens the door to the Velvet Room leading to Shibuya, revealing the Velvet Room was the Quarantine Room in the Depths of Mementos. If the protagonist enters the Velvet Room during his ascension of the Qliphoth, Lavenza will handle the Velvet Room operations such as fusion and the Compedium. In Shibuya, Lavenza will sit outside the Velvet Room door and offer the Phantom Thieves full HP and SP healing for free.
If the protagonist completed the twins' confident, Lavenza will cheer on the Phantom Thieves in Shibuya when they're fighting against Yaldabaoth.
After Yaldabaoth's defeat, Lavenza gives the protagonist the World Arcana, praising him for escaping the prison inside him, while pointing the irony of him being trapped in a physical prison. Then, she, alongside Igor and the Velvet Room, dissipate into light.
In New Game+, if the protagonist defeated the twins, then enters the Velvet Room on December 24th after Lavenza reappears, she will confess her love to him.
Persona 5 Royal
Once the party reaches the Qliphoth World, the twins' confident profile changes to Lavenza, and a blue butterfly will occasionally pass by her. During Alarm Fusions, Lavenza, much like the twins, can be seen stretching. Otherwise, Lavenza operates the Velvet Room the same way Caroline and Justine did. The protagonist is once again summoned to the Velvet Room on January 9th during the night, and is greeted by Lavenza and Igor. She explains that the protagonist still feels imprisoned, therefore the Velvet Room has transformed again into a prison. The next day, she calls the protagonist on his phone to inform him that she will appear in the real world, and the protagonist should bring the rest of the Thieves to their meeting. On January 11th, as a butterfly she beckons the protagonist to the nurse's office where Maruki was staying, and once he enters the room she takes her true form and asks the protagonist to call his friends so they can join up here. Due to Maruki's influence over the word, staying in her true form takes a lot of energy, so she falls asleep while waiting for the rest of the party to show up. When they arrive, Lavenza explains that Maruki has a Persona that allows him to warp reality, and Mementos has been brought back in order to serve his purpose, which risks fusing Tokyo and Mementos together. Upon finishing her explaination and assured the Thieves will fight back, she falls asleep and takes her butterfly form, flying back to the Velvet Room.
Like Caroline and Justine, Lavenza can be fought on New Game+, though only during the Third Semester. She also has a hangout event from January 13th onwards.
