The Demon Compendium, also simply known as the Compendium, is a feature in the Megami Tensei franchise that allows players to view records of previously obtained Demons or Personas and, for a fee, resummon them into the party. This feature also allows players to overwrite previous records with newer demons.
This feature is most often accessed at a place where Fusions are conducted, such as the Cathedral of Shadows, the Velvet Room, and the Goumaden. The summoning fee is relative to the Demon's overall power or potential based on its rarity and saved statistics, with more powerful and rarer Demons often being much more expensive to summon. At times, there may also be some specific Demons that cannot be summoned through the Compendium.
The Compendium can also refer to descriptive entries detailing the origins and characteristics of Demons or Personas. These descriptions may not necessarily be accessed through the summoning feature itself, but through a Demon's profile or in another mode, such as the A-Mode DDS.
The Demon Compendium was first introduced in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and has since become a staple of many Megami Tensei games. The feature has also been retroactively added in re-releases of older games that originally lacked the feature.
