Ouroboros, also known as Ouroboros Maia, is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
The Ouroboros, also referred to as the Uroboros, is a symbol in several cultures representing the cyclical nature of life and death represented by the image of of a snake eating its own tail. While originating in Egyptian and Greek cultures, with Ouroboros meaning "tail eating" in Greek, it is also connected to other cultures such as norse with it being conflated with the world serpent Jörmungandr, it is primarily seen as a symbol of alchemy and Gnosticism. It is traditionally depicted as a ring shape, though it is also represented in a lemniscate to symbolise infinity.
The first recorded usage of the Ouroboros comes from the tomb of Tutankhamun in the 14th century BCE, where two ouroboros act as a representation of the snake god Mehen encircling the head and body of Osiris symbolising his union with Ra, though the exact snake deity it represents is debated. The symbol of the ouroboros extended beyond the borders of Egypt and could be found on Roman jewelry where it was connected to the cycle of the year.

Translation:
