Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II

Nebiros is the boss demon in Keihin Shelter No. 3, and is the second boss in the game.

Shin Megami Tensei

This section contains spoilers. (Skip Section)

Nebiros is the true identity of the Black Baron ruling over Roppongi. After the Great Cataclysm, he and Belial found Alice's body, and taken by her, resurrected the girl. After introducing themselves to her and becoming her "Uncle Black" and "Uncle Red", they resurrected more people to populate Roppongi so that Alice would have many more friends to play with. After the Hero seals away Belial with the Glancing Pot, which breaks the illusion put over Roppongi's citizens and makes Alice fade away, an enraged Black Baron tries to take the Hero's soul. With almost no time to react, Law Hero quickly pushes him out of the way and is killed instead. The party then chases the Black Baron down to the lowest floor of Roppongi to free Law Hero's soul and fight him in his true form as Nebiros. When he is defeated and dying, he asks if what he and Belial were doing was really so wrong if they did it for someone they loved.

End of spoilers.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux

Nebiros is one of the demons the Protagonist must defeat in the EX Mission "Offerings from Louisa Ferre" to obtain the treasure he is guarding.

Shin Megami Tensei V

If the Nahobino is on the Reformation route, he can find a Nebiros NPC in the Empyrean that tells him that someone is waiting for him at the Demon King's Castle. If the Nahobino's alignment does not match the route, he must pay a fee of 666,000 macca for Nebiros to divulge where the person waiting for him is.

If the Nahobino is on the Preservation route and takes on The Seraph's Return subquest, after he has defeated Belial, Nebiros intervenes and whisks Belial away to prevent him from being killed and fused by the Nahobino.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

Nebiros appears nearly identically in the Canon of Vengeance to how he appeared in the Canon of Creation, with the sole differences being that he is encountered as an NPC in the Apocalypse route, and that he and Belial appear in Shakan instead of the Demon King's Castle.

Nebiros is required for the Magatsuhi Skill Diabolical Deluge, where he, along with Belial and Alice, who is holding his puppet, attack enemies with a Dark spell together.

Reason: missing main story appearance description

In Harumi-cho, if Raidou has already heard the rumor about the ghost girl haunting telephones from Shin-Sekai and visited the telephone booth on Tsukudo-Cho, then he can visit a telephone booth with Nebiros in his party to hear the ghost girl again. Once the phone begins to ring, Nebiros will feel drawn towards it and answer the phone. Like Belial, Nebiros will recognize the voice, and refer to himself as Uncle Black. Alice will indicate that she has come to the Capital and is shopping somewhere in the city. After Raidou later hears the phone ringing in Ginza-cho, Belial and Nebiros will both speak with the voice, who reveals herself to be Alice. She will then appear, asking the group to die with her, and attack. After her defeat, Belial and Nebiros will promise to live with her in peace once the case is solved and build a home where they can be safe from humanity.

Trivia

  • In the Mega-CD version of Shin Megami Tensei, a Decarabia NPC in the Basilica reveals that Nebiros and Belial were supposed to have taken over the Basilica, and had they not abandoned the plan in favor of raising Alice, they would have been able to have done it before the Great Flood could have occurred.[1]
