A-Mode DDS

A-Mode DDS is a mode in the Game Boy Advance and iOS versions of Shin Megami Tensei and Shin Megami Tensei II. It is accessed through the games' title menus once the player has met certain criteria in a save file. The mode most notably provides a glossary for analyzing the origins of Demons, which was absent in previous releases of the two games.

A-Mode DDS is also used to view Visionary cutscenes, which provide behind-the-scenes perspectives into characters. Visionaries are unlocked by obtaining specific key items found throughout the games, allowing their respective cutscene to be viewed in the mode's Visionary menu. Some Visionary items can only be obtained in a New Game+.

Shin Megami Tensei

A-Mode DDS is unlocked after Stephen supplies the Demon Analyze Program at the Hospital in Kichijoji.

Shin Megami Tensei II

A-Mode DDS is unlocked after Stephen supplies the Demon Analyze Program during a Virtual Battler session once Aleph has first reached the Center.

Unlike in Shin Megami Tensei, some of the Visionary Items in Shin Megami Tensei II must have a "Visionary Repair" done on them in order to be viewable. To perform a Visionary Repair, the player must visit an Appraiser shop which will present them with the option of using a Link Cable to connect to the Game Boy Advance version of Shin Megami Tensei, and from there they must select a specific Visionary Item they have obtained that will "repair" the Visionary Item in Shin Megami Tensei II. Visionary Repairs require an additional fee of 10,000 Macca to be payed.
