New Game+ (also commonly referred to as New Game Plus, NG+, or New Cycle) is a post-game gameplay mode that allows players to start a new game and carry over some data, such as items, money, or Compendium entries, from a pre-existing completed save file.

Upon starting a new cycle, the player is given the option to wear the Hooded Jacket (which gives Str +2 and Vit +1) or the Leather Jacket (which gives Mag +2 and Agi +1).

In the HD Remaster, a set of indicators for each of the game's potential endings is added to that save file. Completing a given route on a new game cycle will fill its respective ending indicator on the file select screen.
A total of 7 ending indicators can be unlocked. 5 for completing the endings present in the original release, and 2 for completing the new ending in the Maniax and Chronicle editions with Dante and Raidou Kuzunoha XIV respectively.

Upon completion the save file icon turns pink and gains a lotus flower, and continuing this save will start the game's Second Cycle with the following data carried into it:

On top of the carried over data, there are some changes only available in a Second Cycle:

  • The Player can summon any persona from the Compendium regardless of their current level.
  • There are a few additional decisions during some Social Link events
  • If the previous save file reached the True Ending, Izanagi-no-Okami will be available to fuse after July 10th.
  • The Reaper can be found inside of normal chests in dungeons where the optional boss at the end has been defeated.
  • Margaret can be challenged inside of Heaven during the True Ending route. To fight her, the player must avoid all bad endings, defeat all optional bosses, and max out the Empress Social Link before March 20th.

The player will also carry over any special items that were received through Confidant relationships, such as Christmas and Farewell Presents. Christmas Presents allow the player to quickly level up that present's associated Social Link as long as they have a Persona with the same Arcana in their stock. Farewell Presents allow that present's associated Social Link to learn some of their skills immediately upon restarting that Social Link in New Game+.

Persona 5 Royal

The player will also carry over any special items that were received through Confidant relationships, such as Christmas and Farewell Presents. These items have the same effects that they have in the original Persona 5. In addition, Thieves Den progress will carry over. This data is available in all save files the player has and can be accessed at any time by any save; the carryover feature is not exclusive to New Game+.

A battle against Lavenza is unlocked and is available in the third semester. The player must first secure a route to the treasure in Maruki's Palace, and then the battle will be available in Mementos by speaking to Lavenza outside of The Velvet Room's entrance.

Repaint Your Heart

After completing this DLC the player unlocks the following features:

  • Goro Akechi and Kasumi Yoshizawa will become available as party members in the main story once the Phantom Thieves are reassembled midway through the first Kingdom.
  • New images of DLC-exclusive characters and enemies are added to the Images and Special Art sections of the Report Screen in the main story.
  • Challenge stages have been added and are accessible from the DLC Mode's title screen.
