The Thieves Den is a location in Persona 5 Royal.
Profile
The Thieves Den, which represents the protagonist's Palace, initially becomes accessible after May 5th on the player's first save file. After being unlocked, progress carries over across all of the player's save files and the area can be accessed from the main menu.
Jose crashes his car through a wall when the player first visits, leaving a large hole that he patches with wood planks. He says he wants to learn more about humans and decides to stay in the area, answering questions about the Thieves Den when spoken to.
The first floor has a vending machine by the entrance where decorative statues can be bought using P-Medals, and multiple platforms in the center where they can be placed. Statues are added to the vending machine as the player progresses through the game's story. P-Medals are a currency exclusive to the Thieves Den and can be gained by earning Awards, the game's set of in-game achievements. Along with the medals, unlocking Awards gives the player a badge that gets displayed along the wall of the Thieves Den. The first floor also has areas where the player can earn P-Medals by playing Tycoon, and spend P-Medals on artwork, music, and movies.
On the second floor of the Thieves Den there are multiple Transformation Pads placed on the ground, allowing the player to explore the Den as the pad's Phantom Thief member. A character's pad will not be activated until they have been unlocked as a party member in the main story at least once. Each character has various outfits that the player can cycle through by repeatedly stepping on the pad, and new outfits are unlocked as the story progresses.
Awards
The Thieves Den has a set of in-game achievements, referred to as Awards. Completing an Award gives the player a set amount of P-Medals, which is a currency that is exclusive to the Thieves Den. These medals can be used to buy items in the Gallery, Movie, Music, or Den Design areas of the Thieves Den.

Play Area
The Play Area is unique in that it is the only area where items cannot be purchased, and the only activity available is playing the card game, Tycoon, which will reward the player with tokens.
Tycoon
- Main article: Tycoon
In the Play Area of the Thieves Den, the protagonist is able to play a variant of Daifugō (大富豪), known as Tycoon in the west, with 3 members of the Phantom Thieves, which act as AI opponents. The player is able to randomly shuffle which 3 Thieves they can play against, and the order in which they play. Each Thief has a different playstyle and strategy, which changes what cards they will play. There are 3 difficulties the player can choose to play, which change how the AI opponents play: "Let's keep it casual" (Easy), "Let's play seriously" (Medium), and "Let's play a cutthroat game" (Hard).

Trivia
- In the preview render for the Décor based on Futaba's Palace, it is possible to see leftover debug text with the words "Free Camera" in the top right corner.
- The hole created by Jose after first entering the Thieves Den is never repaired, and will be boarded up indefinitely.
- If Akechi is playing a game of Tycoon, neither Futaba nor Haru will join in the session with him.
- There are many movies, songs, decorations, and conversations that ultimately went left unused, such as a unmodeled and untranslated Dance Floor decoration from Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight or an award for repeatedly visiting the temple in Kichijoi. These scrapped unlockables can be all viewed on The Cutting Room Floor
- There are four "dummied" out concept art images in the files, with each displaying text for what would've been on the images. These four images were originally meant for Morgana's Phantom Thief attire, Morgana's helicopter form, another of Futaba's winter casual clothing, and a tentative drawing with no description. The dummied out files are present in all releases of the game, they were not removed in the 2022 re-release.
