Carmen is a Persona in the Persona series. She is the Initial Persona of Ann Takamaki.

Profile

Origin

Carmen is the titular character of the French novella Carmen by writer Prosper Mérimée, first published in 1845. Mérimée stated that the story was inspired by an account told to him by the Countess of Montijo during his visit to Spain in 1830. He made Carmen a Romani woman because of his interest in Romani language and culture, and the novella may also have been influenced by Alexander Pushkin's 1824 poem The Gypsies, which Mérimée later translated into French. The novella was later adapted into the opera Carmen by French composer Georges Bizet, which premiered in 1875.
