Johanna is a Persona in the Persona series. It is the initial Persona of Makoto Niijima.
Profile
Origin
According to European legend, a woman in the 9th century disguised herself as a man and was elected as pope, taking the papal name John. According to the legend, she was discovered when she gave birth during a procession, dying shortly after, and the Catholic Church tried to hide this. She is referred to as the Popess Joan (Johanna in German), the feminine form of her chosen papal name. However, there is no historical evidence that such an event happened, and the first references to this were centuries later than the purported timeframe.
