Origin

Nisroch is an Assyrian deity mentioned in the Bible in the verses 2 Kings 19:37 and Isaiah 37:38. In the early modern era, the name Nisroch would be used for a demon such as in John Milton's Paradise Lost, where he is claimed to be the prime of Satan's Principalities, and in Jacques Collin de Plancy's Dictionnaire Infernal, where he is claimed to be the chief cook of hell.
