Wyvern (from Latin vipera) is a term used in heraldry in Western Europe; it is used to distinguish a two-legged dragon from the more popular four-legged dragon (which are simply called "dragons" in heraldry).

Origin: West Europe Two-legged dragons that appear in heraldry. They appear as dragons with no front legs, and a barbed tail. They are commonly seen on the crests of noble families.
Wyvern is called Wybern in Jack Bros., seemingly in error.
Wyvern appears as the first boss of the game, on Floor 15 of Mecha Fortress and Floor 40 overall. The floor is covered in Jack Traps, of which a row will trigger every few seconds; stepping on one depleted 20 seconds from the timer. Wyvern attacks by flying left and right while periodically shooting fire, covering a Jack Trap's width. One hit from the fire will take away 30 seconds of time, and the wings can also hurt the player. Wyvern will make an inhaling noise as an indicator for when the fire is about to be breathed.
Pixie says the following before dropping to her floor:
This is Wybern's fortress. He attacks by shooting flames and flapping his wings. In addition, there are Jack Traps everywhere!
