Groups are a mechanic in the Last Bible series. They are analogous to a Demon's Race and Personality.

Overview

A Beast's Group is a hidden value that is commonly assigned to a single-letter denomination, such as "Group A." Groups determine whether or not a Beast can be recruited, the result in fusion, and the outcome of negotiation. Beasts of the same Group will always respond identically to the same answers in negotiation as each other. While Beasts of the same Group may be related in some ways (for example, Group F containing most fairies), they are often unrelated to each other. Last Bible II would modify the Group system to more closely resemble the Race system, with Another Bible and Last Bible III removing it entirely. It would return in its original form for Last Bible Special and the Shinyaku Last Bible trilogy.

Beasts are split into Groups A-G, H, X, Y, and Z. Groups A-G behave normally, while Group H is similar to the Element Race in that these Beasts can only be recruited through fusing Beasts of the same Group with each other. Fusing a Group H Beast with another Beast will result in a Beast of the same Group as the target Beast. Groups X, Y, and Z are generally restricted to enemies; however, there are a select few Beasts in these Groups that can be recruited through other methods, such as special events and fusion accidents.

Beasts of the same Group will have identical elemental resistances, with the exception of Group Z, which has two separate sets of resistances split amongst members of the Group. For this reason, some sources split them into two Groups, but officially, all Beasts in this category are considered Group Z.
