Origin

Surt, also referred to as Surtr, is a jötunn of Norse mythology, the mightiest of the fire giants and ruler of Muspelheim. An enemy of Odin, he is prophesied to do battle with the Æsir at Ragnarok where Surtr will lead his armies into battle and kill Freyr before his flames will engulf the world. He wields a great flaming sword that was incorrectly attested to be Lævateinn, however this does not match historical records.

Shin Megami Tensei

Surt is one of the Chaotic Tyrants occupying the bottom floors of the Basilica. If the Hero is Neutral or Law-aligned and confronts Surt, Surt will call the Hero's party worthless puppets created by God and attack them. If the Hero is on the Chaos route, Surt will be amicable to him and grant him the Surt Claw.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne

Surt is a member of the Assembly of Nihilo. When the organization occupies the Diet Building in search of its large quantity of Magatsuhi, Surt disguises himself as a statue and guards the building from intruders. When the Demi-fiend tries to progress past the building entrance, Surt reveals himself and declares he will not let him pass, though he is defeated nonetheless.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey

In the Law route, when the Protagonist tries to use the elevator to Mem Aleph after collecting all the Cosmic Eggs, Surt intervenes and destroys it in an attempt to stop him from reaching her. He expresses his disdain for the light of the Law and proclaims that it will be the demons who will save the Earth. He praises Jimenez for not aligning with the angels and then attacks the Protagonist to bring his carcass to him. Upon Surt's defeat, the Destiny Jewel is dropped.
