In tarot, the Moon is the eighteenth of the 21 trump cards, which are called "Major Arcana" in esoteric usage. The imagery originates from Italian tarocchi decks. The Moon card typically features a scene with two dogs howling at the moon, which is depicted with a face, while a crayfish is nearby in a pond in the foreground.
The Rider-Waite-Smith deck shows the crayfish leaving the water.
Arthur Edward Waite lists the following divinatory meanings in The Pictorial Key to the Tarot: "Hidden enemies, danger, calumny, darkness, terror, deception, occult forces, error. Reversed: Instability, inconstancy, silence, lesser degrees of deception and error."[1]
