Shinjiro Aragaki is a character in Persona 3. He is a student at Gekkoukan High School and a member of S.E.E.S.

Profile

Shinjiro is a third-year student at Gekkoukan High School. He is Akihiko Sanada's childhood friend, as the two have known each other for the majority of their lives. Shinjiro was one of the first three members of S.E.E.S. alongside Akihiko and Mitsuru Kirijo, having joined in junior highschool right after Akihiko did.[3] He left S.E.E.S. due to an incident in his first-year at Gekkoukan, and is on extended leave from school. An orphan, Shinjiro spends the majority of his time lingering in the alleyway behind Port Island Station, isolating himself. After hearing that Ken Amada has joined S.E.E.S, he joins the team as well on 9/2.

Shinjiro is often described as "thuggish" and "scary" looking, with the majority of S.E.E.S. initially expressing apprehension about approaching him. His usual attire consists of a burgundy peacoat that extends to his mid-thigh, black slacks, brown dress shoes, a black beanie, and a turtleneck that is either grey, brown, or black depending on the iteration. His coat has black lapels and a tall collar with studded edges.

His facial features are occasionally inconsistent, but he is typically depicted with lines for eyebags, grey or grey-brown eyes, and a stronger jaw and chin. His skin tone, though subject to variation, is generally a few shades darker than the remainder of the cast. His hair is half-concealed by his beanie but is unkempt and about shoulder-length, with bangs over his nose and along the sides of his face. Its colour ranges from taupe in the movie adaptations to dark brown in Persona 3 Reload.

As described by character designer Shigenori Soejima, Shinjiro's design was inspired by photos of a band Soejima had seen, specifically their "deep and heavy air".[4]

Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight

Shinjiro appears in Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight as the dancer for the DLC track Battle Hymn of the Soul. His style is overall rough and choppy; his moves slow with heavy, jerking movements. Though Shinjiro's dancing style is overall constrained as often stays in one place, he at times displays a volatile nature in sudden, full-bodied moves. At various points in the track, Shinjiro will pause, hunch over, or take a knee. In one instance during his solo Fever, Shinjiro collapses onto his knee before getting back up.

Shinjiro's dancing style is inflexible, as while Shinjiro will synchronize with his Fever partner for particular moves, he will not adapt his style to better match with them. His Fever partners include Makoto Yuki, Akihiko Sanada, Mitsuru Kirijo, and Ken Amada.

In addition to Goro Akechi's Will Power, the track was included as part of a pre-order bonus for the physical edition of the Endless Night Collection.

As a DLC character, Shinjiro wears his standard clothes and does not have a unique Ball Stage Outfit. He has four available costumes, including modified version of his base outfit where his armband is present; a butler uniform where he wears a dress suit, vest, and gloves; the male Velvet Attendant uniform worn by Theodore, and a swimsuit called the Two-Tone Bermuda Shorts.

Beyond his DLC track, Shinjiro remains only mentioned in the A Dream of Reaching New Heights social event between Ken and Akihiko.
