Lilim is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Lilin is a Jewish term for a female demon which can be found in the Talmud.

According to Yirmeya ben Elazar's midrash on Genesis 5:3 (later quoted by others such as David Kimhi), after his exile from the Garden of Eden, Adam sired only spirits, demons, and lilin until 130 years had passed, after which he sired children in his own image. Yirmeya ben Elazar also said regarding Genesis 11:9 that the people who desired to climb the Tower of Babel and wage war were turned into apes, spirits, demons, and lilin.

Design

The artwork for Lilim in the original Super Famicom Shin Megami Tensei portrays her in a white bodysuit.

The updated design for the PlayStation version would instead give her a white bolero, white short shorts, and white palm gloves. Additionally, a tattoo is present on her outer right thigh.

These two designs would both see use in their fair share of game entries in later years, though the latter has overtaken the former; replacing it consistently in more recent entries.
