MegaTen α[a] was a mobile website for NTT Docomo's[b][c] i-mode Japanese mobile internet service, dedicated to games in the Megami Tensei franchise. It launched on February 26, 2004, to coincide with the release of the FOMA 900i series of cellphones.[1] For a monthly fee of ¥300, users could access a variety of Megami Tensei-related content, including games, wallpapers, and ringtones.[1] However, individual games initially required a separate one-time purchase of ¥300. These games later became freely available to subscribers after a set period, provided the subscription remained active.
The service featured three menu options: RPG Archive, which distributed i-αppli versions of classic Megami Tensei games; Digital Novel, which allowed users to read novels from the franchise; and CASINO, which offered mini-games such as poker and codebreaker.[2]
