Hydra is a monster from Greek mythology. A child of [[Echidna]] and [[Typhon]], Hydra is a multi headed snake with a deadly poison and the power to regrow two heads whenever one is cut off that resides around the lake of Lerna. Hydra is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
Hydra is a monster from Greek mythology. A child of Echidna and Typhon, Hydra is a multi headed snake with a deadly poison and the power to regrow two heads whenever one is cut off that resides around the lake of Lerna. The hero Hercules faced the Hydra in the second of his Twelve Labors, and with the assistance of his nephew Iolaus defeats the Hydra by cauterizing the severed heads before they could regenerate. He collected the Hydra's poison and coated his arrows with it, which he later used to kill Geryon and Nessus.
Design
According to Masayuki Doi, Hydra's design in Shin Megami Tensei V intentionally deviates from common depictions in other media. The symbols and patterns on Hydra's body were inspired by those painted on ancient Greek pottery. Hydra's eyeless, mask-like face came from common stories in Greek mythology where he would blindly ransack villages. The drool and poisonous gas that spread from his mouth in-game were meant to make him appear more menacing.[1]
Gameplay
