Amanozako is a goddess in Japanese mythology, said to be a monstrous and disruptive being. She is the descendant of all yokai and more specifically the Tengu and Amanojaku. She was born when the Shinto god of the sea and storms Susano-o when his tempestuous spirit raged and built up inside him until it became too much for him to contain, resulting in him vomiting it out in the form of Amanozako.
Design
According to designer Masayuki Doi, Amanozako was designed with the idea of a memorable character that players would find endearing. Her wings and sandals were elements taken from Tengu, while the colors and patterns on her clothing were inspired by that of ancient Japanese civilization. Since Amanazako was born from Susano-o, she was designed to look slightly artificial, with her hairstyle made to resemble a helmet. While she was originally going to be closer in appearance to Tengu or Amanojaku, her in-game personality led to these design elements being toned back.[1]
A Japanese goddess commonly thought to be the ancestor of the tengu and amanojaku.
The famed warrior Susano-o once allowed his tempestuous spirit to build up to such an intense degree, he vomited her out as a result. Similarly to Susano-o, she has a wild personality and tends to go on a rampage if she doesn't get her way. It is said that she can hurl even the most powerful gods a great distance, and that her fangs can mangle the very sharpest of blades. Like amanojaku, she is prone to doing the exact opposite of what is expected.

If the Nahobino accepts, she eagerly proposes that she will find him more items so that he'll take her with him, and if the Nahobino refuses the bead with will be angered, thinking tha he doesn't believe the gift is good enough. Regardless, she flies off in search of more items to prove her worth. She is encountered a third time after the Nahobino meets Yuzuru Atsuta, in which she asks outright to join the Nahobino as a travelling companion and admitting she is motivated by her search for her soul mate. While Aogami once again reiterates the risk of being taken advantage of by a demon, he ultimately relents and Amanozako joins as a Quest Navigator.
