The Lovers is an Arcana in the Persona series. It is the sixth numbered card in the Major Arcana, numbered VI6, following the Hierophant and preceding the Chariot.

In tarot, the Lovers is the sixth of the 21 trump cards, which are called "Major Arcana" in esoteric usage. The imagery originates from Italian tarocchi decks, where it was originally called l'Amore ("Love"), later called gli Amanti ("the Lovers"). The Lovers card typically features a man between two women, with Cupid above aiming his arrow. In some variants, Cupid is blindfolded.
The Rider-Waite-Smith deck reinterprets the scene as Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden; the Tree of Life, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the serpent are in the background. It furthermore replaces Cupid with "a great winged figure with arms extended, pouring down influences". Waite believed this new representation better represented love in its purest form, uncontaminated by material desire.[1]
Arthur Edward Waite lists the following divinatory meanings in The Pictorial Key to the Tarot: "Attraction, love, beauty, trials overcome. Reversed: Failure, foolish designs. Another account speaks of marriage frustrated and contrarieties of all kinds."[2]
