Fionn mac Cumhaill is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
Fionn mac Cumhaill,[a] often anglicized Finn McCool, is a hunter-warrior and a hero in Irish mythology. He is the leader of the Fianna group of hunter-warriors comprised mostly of young men. Fionn is also portrayed as a talented prophet and poet, with a burnt, magic thumb that is said to grant him immense wisdom. He wields a sword, known as the Mac Au Luin, and is depicted as having a pack of hounds that he hunts with. He was raised under the poet Finnegas, and was raised by druids. Fionn was prophesied to eat the Salmon of Knowledge, which he was tasked with catching and cooking. While doing so, he burnt his thumb on the fat, causing him to instinctively put it to his mouth. It imbued him with the salmon's wisdom, and increased his power thousandfold.
Etymology
Fionn's name, which in Old and Middle Irish is Find or Finn respectively, means a variety of things, primarily "white, lustrous, bright, fair, handsome, blessed, bright, moral, fair, true, and just."
His sword, with the epithet Mac Au Luin, translates directly to "The son of the waves".
Design
According to designer Masayuki Doi, Fionn mac Cumhaill was selected for Shin Megami Tensei V as the developers wanted a "good-looking, demon heartthrob." His design was originally going to incorporate science-fiction elements, but Doi eventually decided to adhere to Fionn as he is presented in Irish mythology. Fionn was initially intended to suck his thumb when he muttered incantations, but the designers felt it made him look too childlike, so they settled on having him gently kiss his thumb instead.[1]

Fionn appears in Shinagawa after Lahmu's attack on Jouin High School, where upon seeing the students being abducted by demons in Da'at he takes it upon himself to rescue the humans and bring them to the Fairy Village where they can be sheltered by Oberon and Titania. As the Nahobino and Tao Isonokami travel in search of the students themselves, Fionn misconstrues their situation and believes that Tao is being held captive by the Nahobino, whom he believes to be a mere demon, and ambushes them in order to protect Tao. After battling Tao interrupts and desperately explains the situation to Fionn, who understands their goals align, apologizes for hastily jumping to conclusions before directing the pair to the Fairy Village so they can reunite with the students he has rescued, and advises them to remain cautious and depart.
Fionn appears again in Chiyoda, observing the battle between Bethel and the Demon King's armies, though not participating himself despite the opportunities it presents a mercenary like him. He asks that the Nahobino take time to alleviate the troubles of the Fairy Village if he has the time, stating that he would appreciate it.
Fionn appears again in Taito. After seeing the various factions of Bethel separate and fight each other for the Throne of Creation, noting that he is aware that the Nahobino is a contender for the Throne. If various quests in the Fairy Village have been completed, he admits that he has no interest in ruling and has instead been looking for a king to serve. With the actions of the Nahobino proving that he desires to make the world a better place, Fionn claims that he believes that they are the king he has been searching for. He asks that they battle once again at full power to test if the Nahobino's power is greater than his own, leading to the quest Fionn's Resolve. When accepted, Fionn eagerly prepares to battle, licking his thumb to empower himself and explaining that doing so grants him a level of Knowledge that makes him comparable in power to a Nahobino before they battle. Upon defeat, Fionn happily proclaims that the Nahobino has surpassed all his expectations before admonishing himself for acting informally in front of his king. Fionn pledges allegiance to the Nahobino and joins his party.
