Origin

Scáthach is a Celtic god in Irish mythology that resides in Scotland. A master warrior, the Irish culture hero Cú Chulainn is sent to train under her in an attempt to kill him, however he is skilled enough to survive Scáthach's inhuman training and earn her respect, gifting Cú Chulainn the legendary spear Gáe Bolg. When her sister and rival Aoife comes to battle her, Scáthach slips her student a potion to force him to sleep so she can battle her rival alone. However Cú Chulainn awakens and joins the battle, tricking Aoife by drawing her attention to her beloved chariot and bested her, demanding that she cease her hostilities with Scáthach and that she bare him a son lest he kill her. Once she has completed his training, Scáthach sends Cú Chulainn back to Ireland.
