Camazotz is a Demon in the Digital Devil Saga series. It is the Atma Avatar of Bat.

Origin

Design
Camazotz appears as a gigantic dark brown and black bat with white fur on his neck and symmetrical blue stripes on his chest and back. He has large wings and long legs with hand-like feet. Camazotz' head is secured at his hips; his face is red and featureless except for a pair of long ribbed ears and a mouth filled with sharp teeth. Camazotz has a curved digit at the center of both wings along with a set of three white claws that can extend outwards.

Game Appearances

Camazotz is the Atma of Bat, second-in-command of the Maribel. He is first seen transforming into Camazotz to fight the Embryon as to prove they are strong enough to ally their Tribes. He is defeated, but Argilla spares him, earning Jinana's respect and forming the Embryon-Maribel alliance against the Solids. Bat, foreseeing a betrayal, awakens to his emotions, but is ignored.
Bat betrays the Maribel himself to the Solids, seeking to join them. This allows the Solids to launch an attack in Manipura, and Jinana is left to die at the hands of the Embryon by Mick the Slug after he overpowers her. Bat, now a member of the Solids, eavesdrops on the Embryon as Camazotz, learning that they have Sera. The Solids bait the Embryon into Manipura, trapping them there with Bat and their forces to buy time for an attack in Muladhara. Bat is defeated, but manages to fly away and escape.
The Embryon meet Mick the Slug, Bat and a hostage Sera atop Coordinate 136. Sera manages to throw herself off the roof, but is caught by Camazotz. Bat then reveals that his true goal was to get Sera for himself and use her as leverage to join the Brutes, but he is stopped and forced to retreat by an attack from Dyaus, who recovers Sera for the Embryon. Mick is defeated, and Bat manages to join the Brutes anyway.
The Embryon, seeing their forces dwindling, decide to spread a rumor that Sera is being held aboard the Deserted Ship, planning to turn it into a death trap for Bat and whichever Brutes forces accompany him. Argilla disguises herself as Sera, successfully fooling the Brutes, prompting Bat to enter the ship. Argilla holds him long enough for the Embryon to plant several explosives in the ship and regroup, defeating Bat and leaving him to be killed by the exploding ship.
Bat's Solar Data appears in the Sun, where he transforms into Camazotz to prevent the party from entering the 4th layer.
Novel Appearances
When the Embryon seek an alliance with the Maribel, Jinana proposes that each Tribe should choose a champion to do battle, as Jinana refuses to ally herself with a weaker Tribe. Serph selects Heat, while Bat puts himself as the Maribel's champion. Both transform into their Atma and engage in battle, which ends in Heat's victory. Agni nearly devours Camazotz, but he is stopped by Serph putting his own arm in Agni's mouth.
Camazotz later appears during the Embryon-Maribel attack on Anahata. He first attacks one Embryon Atma and Vayu, which only Vayu is able to dodge. They then fight until the infiltration team of Serph, Heat and Argilla leave the Solids's base. After leaving a hungry Jinana with them, Camazotz takes Mick the Slug and they fly to Muladhara to steal the Embryon's means of making Atma-controlling medicine.
Camazotz and Rahu take part in the Brutes's attack on Manipura, grabbing Sera while the Embryon are distracted with Rahu. He explains that the Brutes want to capture Sera and Serph, threatening Sera's life to get Serph to capitulate. Serph agrees, but Sera commands Camazotz to release her. Her eyes flash color, and Camazotz drops Sera from his grasp. Sera is caught by Cerberus, while Dyaus holds Camazotz back. However, due to Dyaus casting too much lightning, Bat and Mick the Slug manage to escape.
Camazotz, Rahu and some Brutes, all having devoured the weaker Brutes, defend Ajna from an attack by Serph, Heat, Lupa, Jinana and Argilla. Agni engages Camazotz one-on-one and defeats him, heavily mutilating him. After the battle, Camazotz is revealed to be somehow alive, but near death. Rahu, having lost his lower body and taken heavy damage to his upper body, devours what little remains of Camazotz to keep himself alive, gaining wings in the process.
