Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner
Lupa is the leader of the Wolves tribe. They do not encounter the Embryon for most of the war following the release of the Atma virus, other than hearing Angel's commandment with the other tribe leaders. However, following Varin Omega's attack on the Wolves, he seeks an alliance with the Embryon to invade Ajna through the Samsara Tunnels. Lupa reveals that he has had dreams of a son and noticed inconsistencies within the Junkyard, giving Gale pause and eventually earning his respect.
Lupa is afflicted by Varin's Hunger Wave at some point during the operation, causing him to turn berserk against his allies. He is slain by the Embryon and passes a dying message to Gale for his son. His death is the catalyst that causes Gale to fully awaken to his emotions.
Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner 2
It is revealed that Lupa is the data of the deceased Greg, the Lokapala's former leader and Fred's father. After the events of the Internment Facility, Gale chooses to comfort Fred by passing his words off as Lupa's, ultimately not passing on Lupa's dying message, believing that he would forgive him.
Later, his data ascends to the Sun. If the player transferred their Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner data, he gives Gale the ability to use Pyriphlegethon.
Novel Appearances
Quantum Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner I
Lupa is a member of the Wolves who fled, alongside several Newborns, from their base in Vishuddha to Muladhara via the Junkyard's underground sewers after the Wolves's base was "swallowed". Despite them all being Newborns, Serph and Heat recognize that Lupa shares the name and an uncanny resemblance to the leader who took them in when they were both Newborns themselves, which surprises Lupa.

Following interrogation and analysis, Gale confirms that Lupa possesses the High Atma Cerberus, being unusually powerful for a Newborn, especially when compared to the Lesser Atma of his fellow Newborns. Lupa confirms that he has no memory of being Serph and Heat's leader, despite the Church's data confirming that there was an individual with no notable differences from the existing Lupa aside from Tribal markings and attire. Gale notes that the Church does not acknowledge that there is an issue with Lupa. Moving to the topic of Vishuddha, Lupa explains how it was attacked by an invisible Atma and a black, writhing mud, forcing Lupa and some survivors to escape into a newly-uncovered underground sewer system, eventually emerging in Muladhara.
When Shin Minase is explaining the pollution of the Church's systems to the Embryon, he mentions a Newborn who retained vestiges of their old self as evidence of it, confirming to them that Serph and Heat's former leader had in fact reincarnated as the Wolves's Lupa.
