Mastema is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
Mastema, also referred to as Mansemat, is the angel of hostility and persecution in Judaism who appears in the Book of Jubilees. He rules over one-tenth of the Nephilim after he pleaded with God to let them remain on earth so he may test the faith of humanity, with the rest being damned. He fulfills the role of the Adversary however is considered a separate entity from Satan.
Design
In Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey onward, Mastema is a gray-skinned angel with large black wings, long hair, and nails, and blue lips. He wears an off-white angular mask and robes, adorned in decorations of lines, with a large vertical halo floating behind his head. His robe is loose, exposing his chest, with thin vertically lined legwear that stop at his ankles, revealing his feet.

Trivia
- During development of Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Mastema's Japanese name was at one point マステマ (Mastema) instead of マンセマット (Mansemat). He was also of the Divine race instead of Herald.[1]
