Kazfiel is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
Kazfiel is an original creation by Kazunari Suzuki for Shin Megami Tensei, and he is named after Kazuma Kaneko.[1] Later media gave him descriptions alluding to or identifying him with pre-existing angels.
Kazfiel's description in the Game Boy Advance version of Shin Megami Tensei mentions that he rules over the south. This is derived from the spirit Caspiel mentioned in works such as Johannes Trithemius's posthumously-published Steganographia,[2] and later in the Lesser Key of Solomon.[3]
Kazuma Kaneko Works III is uncertain as to the name's derivation, but suggests it is probably from the occult spirit Caspiel, while also mentioning a possibility of being derived from the character Cadfael in novels written by Edith Pargeter under the pen name Ellis Peters.[4]
Later games' descriptions identify Kazfiel with Kasbeel,[a] an angel from chapter 69 of the Book of Enoch. While no known Aramaic version of this passage or the section it is in (the Book of Parables) survives, this text is present in the Ethiopic version of Enoch. Kasbeel is stated to have been, when he dwelt amongst the most high, the chief of an oath which he asks Michael the hidden name of, Biqa, so that he may enunciate it; he also places the oath Akae into the hand of Michael.[5][6]
Design
Kazfiel's design in Shin Megami Tensei resembles traditional Christian depictions of seraphim.

Kazfiel is the true identity of the woman who broadcasts prayers and Messian teachings from Tokyo Tower. After the Basilica becomes available, the Hero can visit the tower and will be asked by the broadcaster if he believes God's help is needed. If he answers no, or is Chaos-aligned to begin with, then the woman transforms into Kazfiel and attacks him.
