Sraosha is also the protector of the souls of the dead. The wandering souls of those who have just died are targeted by demons, but Sraosha protects them, leading them to the place of souls' judgment.

Additionally, in Zoroastrianism, it is believed that the soul of a dead human wanders around their corpse for three days, and it is said that his role during this period is to protect the soul from demons. Along with the gods Mithra and Rashnu, he is also said to be an angel who presides over the judgment of human souls in the underworld, using a scale to judge the good and evil of souls and determine their destination.
