Kumbhanda is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Kumbhanda is a lesser deity and type of evil spirit in Buddhist mythology. Their overlord is said to be Virūḍhaka, and are sometimes listed as minions of Mara.[1]

Design

Kumbhanda has a skeletal humanoid body, the head of a horse, a long red mane, and a sombrero style hat. He has clawed hands and feet and carries a sharpened horseshoe

Shin Megami Tensei V Demons of Buddhist origin, known for draining the life energy of humans.

It is said that they often change shape and take the form of a gourd. They stand three meters tall, with red hair and dark skin, and have the body of a human but the head of a white horse. They once served Rudra, but according to Buddhist scriptures, they now follow Zouchouten of the Four Heavenly Kings.

Kumbhanda is a minor antagonist in the Internment facility. He is the jailer of a facility that processes human meat into canned food. The Lokapala devises a plan to escape by feeding him poisoned demon meat in a can labeled 15 year olds.[2] The player is chased by him and has to run through multiple floors to get the meat, process and can the meat and then put it where he will find it. He banters once for each floor and if he catches Serph they fight and Serph is imprisoned.
