Nomenclature

The usual Japanese name of this demon, クバンダ Kubanda, is a katakana rendering of the Sino-Japanese term 鳩槃荼 Kubanda, which is derived from the Sanskrit कुम्भाण्ड Kumbhāṇḍa through a Chinese intermediate. The spelling used in Last Bible II and Last Bible Special (クパンダ Kupanda) and that in the Digital Devil Saga and Persona series (クヴァンダ Kuvanda) are corruptions thereof.

The name in Last Bible III, クムバーンダ Kumubānda, is derived directly from Sanskrit.
