カタキラウワは漢字で「片耳豚」と書かれ、その名の通りに片耳のない姿をしていると言われる。その他に片目が欠けているもの、片足が欠けているものなど、いずれも体の一部が欠けている姿で現れると言われている。カタキラウワに股の間をくぐられた人間は、魂を抜かれて死んでしまうか性器を駄目にしてしまうと言われ「カタキラウワを見たら両足を踏み交わして股の間を通れないようにやり過ごす」というのが災難を免れる方法だとされている。Translation:
