Gale is a main and playable character in the Digital Devil Saga series. He is the advisor of the Embryon, one of the five core Tribes of the Junkyard.
Profile
As the advisor of the Embryon,[1] Gale is a voice of reason that Serph consults when planning the group's next move. He is analytical, thoughtful, and perceptive, always offering carefully-considered advice.
Gale has a lanky, knobby build with long legs, a pear-shaped torso, and green hair hidden beneath the unique hood on his armor. His Atma brand is called "Twister", depicted as a small tornado on his left leg. His Atma Avatar itself, Vayu, is a gray creature covered by a green, leaf-like poncho draped over its shoulders. Its legs are the most powerful part of its body, shown to be capable of high kicks, jumps, breakdancing moves, and stabbing; instead of a foot, Vayu has a knife at the bottom of its right leg.
Gameplay

Gale transforms into Vayu at the start of every battle, unless the party is ambushed, in which case he may start the battle as a human, and he may also spend a turn switching between forms during battle. His human form wields an assault rifle, which deals Gun damage to random enemies, but cannot use Vayu's skills.
Gale's stats are balanced, with a bias towards offensive stats over Luck.

Every chapter of the Anthology takes place prior to Gale awakening to his emotions, though his personality is not consistent between them.
Chapter 1 involves Serph taking Gale to Coordinate 136 in order to awaken his emotions, as he is the last member of the Embryon to not have done so. Although he is unemotive to others, he shows emotions exclusively to Heat: once when Heat teases Gale, showing anger; once when they are sent on a moving platform, showing fear; and once when they fall through a pitfall, showing anger again. Nobody believes Heat and Gale does not admit to it.
In chapter 2, Gale catches the Succubus that attacked Serph off guard with several armed Embryon behind him. They attack and defeat the Succubus, though him and Serph both refuse to devour her after she reverts to her comparatively unattractive human form.
Chapter 3 takes place as the Embryon are carrying out their operation on the Deserted Ship and Heat is to escort Sera to Embryon Base 2. Heat gets angry at Gale for treating Sera as an item to open the gates of Nirvana, to which Gale calls Heat out on his obsession with Sera. Gale's words ultimately empower Heat to counterattack the Brutes that had attacked him on the way to the base before they could escape with Sera.
Chapter 5 begins with the Embryon receiving news that some of their rookie members were captured. Gale believes that the tradeoff of risking their veteran members outweighs the reward of rescuing the rookies, so he suggests leaving them to die, but Argilla and Serph both decide to go anyway. The Embryon succeed, but Serph and Heat end up fighting over an Apis heart that Heat had been saving for last. Cielo tries to explain their relationship to him, though Gale does not understand his figures of speech, and later fails to understand the emotional value the other members place on certain things. Cielo then hands Schroedinger to Gale, who notes the cat's warmth and softness, allowing him to understand that there are things that can only be felt.
Chapter 6 has Serph and Gale discuss the growing uncertainty and unruliness within the Embryon, caused by their members awakening to their personalities, so Serph decides to remedy this by spreading a rumor that Nirvana is full of women wearing glasses. The rumor and the subsequent competing rumors are effective, much to Gale's disappointment, though the rumors end up creating divisions within the Embryon. Serph quells them by having Prithivi wear every article of clothing each group fixated over, scaring them.
Chapter 7 takes place after the Embryon defeat Mick the Slug. Serph and Heat grow hungry and argue over which of Pyro Jack or Jack Frost is better to eat. Heat drags Serph into Mystery Castle, despite Gale's insistence that they should go to the Deserted Ship immediately. Heat and Serph begin an eating competition, traveling all the way up the castle, at which point they keel over due to Ache. The other Embryon run up the castle, and Gale offers a Dis-Ache, though he first angrily lectures the two due to them delaying the Embryon's plans.
Chapter 8 takes place near Embryon Base 2, where Argilla is making a grave for Jinana as proof that she lived. Gale does not comprehend, though he still decides to assist her by suggesting that the grave should have Jinana's Atma brand. Argilla refuses, as she believes Jinana wanted to be truly free of her Atma. Cielo joins them, suggesting that they should make graves for the people that fought alongside them.
Chapter 10 takes place in the Deserted Ship. Cielo finds that Serph had become Cursed at some point prior to the operation, and that he didn't resupply on Dis-Curses. They are then attacked, forcing Gale and Cielo to fight without Serph. Cielo then talks with Gale about how Serph has become friendlier but less dependable. They are then ambushed by Chatterskulls, who land a Skull Cleave on Cielo, though this time Serph fights, casting Mabufudyne and giving an opportunity for Gale to finish them off. Serph does not die to the Curse, and Gale deduces that he overwrote it with another Ailment, to which Serph reveals that he overwrote his Curse with an Ache from a Muscle Drink. Serph expresses appreciation for his team before offering Cielo a choice between an Odd Morsel and a Moldy Roll.
Chapter 12 takes place after the Deserted Ship, in Embryon Base 2. After Sera runs away, with her and Heat denying that anything happened between them, Gale informs Serph that their recon squad had returned. Serph leaves with Gale, telling Cielo to prepare the room so they could use it as a war room. Later, Cielo gets permission from Serph to make modifications to an unused room, which Gale decides to investigate. He finds that Cielo is painting the room to look like a clear sky to try and make everyone smile, which they had never seen due to the perpetual rain. Gale does not comprehend, but does not disapprove. Cielo later says that he got the funds for the paint by selling Cells they had, unaware that they were Gale's. Gale immediately holds Cielo at knifepoint with Vayu's feet for his actions, demanding compensation for wasting his money.
