Berserk Mode
Berserk Mode is a mechanic in Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner 2.
Profile
Berserk Mode is a half-transformed state that the party may start in at high levels of Solar Noise. It is a high risk mode that provides additional Karma should the party win.[1]
Gameplay
A random encounter has a high chance of being a Berserk Mode encounter at MAX Solar Noise and a low chance at 7/8 Solar Noise. The party is guaranteed to go first in Berserk Mode encounters and escaping from battle will always succeed.
While in Berserk Mode, characters use their human resistances, but are more vulnerable to damage and Critical Hits. They are limited to normal attacks and Strength-based skills, both of which gain the ability to pierce resistances, but are unable to use Magic-based skills or Combos. Additionally, attacks in Berserk Mode deal double damage, have a very high Critical rate and reduced accuracy.
When a Berserk Mode encounter is won, the party will receive 2.5x the normal amount of Karma.
On a New Game+, the Embryon acquires the Berserker Ring in the Underwater Cable, allowing every random encounter to trigger Berserk Mode, regardless of Solar Noise.
