Dantalian is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Dantalion is a spirit in European demonology first attested in the Ars Goetia section of The Lesser Key of Solomon; he is one of four spirits in the Goetia to not be derived from Johann Weyer's Pseudomonarchia Daemonum. Dantalion is said to be the 71st spirit summoned by King Solomon of Israel. He is a great and mighty duke in the form of a man with many faces (both male and female), and he carries a book in his right hand. He teaches arts and sciences, can tell people's secrets, knows and can change people's thoughts, can cause love, and can show visions of other people no matter where they are. He has command over 36 legions.

Design

In Giten Megami Tensei: Tokyo Revelation, Dantalion is depicted as a man clothed in yellow, red, and brown robes, though he does not appear to wear an undergarment as his bare torso is exposed. He also wears a yellow pointed cap, and he appears to have a white moustache and has pointed ears, white eyes, dark skin and sharp nails.

Game Appearances

Giten Megami Tensei: Tokyo Revelation

Dantalion as he is known in the game is the leader of the Shinjuku Labor Camp at Kabukicho, he is first encountered once Ayato Katsuragi leaves Hatsudai Shelter, he appears as a young man but Emi Kirishima's dog, Newton, sees through his disguise and so he offers them to join him with Bael, no matter what Katsuragi says a fight begins and after he's defeated he runs away with Isamu Yamase who has joined his side. Dantalion is later fought by Katsuragi with his friends alongside the resistance group called Pentagramma at the Shinjuku Labor Camp, after he's defeated he runs away.

Much later in the game, after Katsuragi retrieves Yuuka Tachibana's head and pendant, he appears right outside of Bael's throne room and said that he was expecting him to come to the castle since no one was there, and so he fights the party one last time, and once he's defeated he says that this result was expected and he dies for good.
