Charon is a recurring character in the Megami Tensei series. He is the ferry operator of the River Styx[a] and typically offers the protagonist a chance to make him an offering to come back to life upon death. He is also a playable demon in several games.

Charon is overworked and frustrated and wishes to revive the player to ease his burden having to ferry them through the river Styx. [1]

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner

After the protagonist is killed by Sid Davis near the start of the game, Charon tells the protagonist that it was not yet his time to die, but he cannot send him back to his own body, so he sends the protagonist's soul to the body of the recently-deceased Kyouji Kuzunoha.

  • In Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner, there is unused statistical data for Charon, apparently as a boss, located after the data for Sid's Pseudo-Otherworld boss fight. However, the stats are clear placeholders.
