The Yomotsu-Ikusa are demons from Japanese Mythology that reside in the underworld of Yomi. When Izanagi travelled to Yomi to rescue the recently deceased Izanami, upon seeing her rotting corpse covered in maggots he fled in horror with Izanami unleashing the armies of Yomi against him in retaliation, among them the Yomotsu-Ikusa. When the Yomotsu-Ikusa were closing in on Izanagi, he took three peaches from a nearby tree and threw down, repelling the Yomotsu-Ikusa. In gratitude, Izanagi declared that the peach was sacred and bade it to grow to help those in the land of the living.
