Translation: A god of trees as told in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. Considered a male god born from the two gods Izanagi and Izanami.
Place of origin: Japan Kukunochi is written as "久久能智". He is a male god appearing in the Kojiki, and it is said that he is a god born to the two deities Izanagi and Izanami after they created the land. "Kuku" signifies the growth of vegetation, particularly the stem, while "chi" is an affix referring to a male, so it is said that he is a god who presides over male trees. Because Japan had a firmly rooted way of life deeply intertwined with trees, it is said that they worshiped the trees that supported their way of life, which were also often considered to be vessels in which the gods resided.
