Design
Hayagriva appears as a bipedal zebra missing his front legs. In their place, there are two appendages on his chest resembling wings, which conceal arms. Hayagriva's lack of front legs is intended to emphasize his head, because he is related to the horse-headed Batō Kannon.[1] His head does not have eyes, and his nose supports a blade which can be retracted into its head.
According to Kazuma Kaneko, Hayagriva resembles a zebra instead of a horse, because he felt horse designs were too common.[1]

Game Appearances
Hayagriva is the Atma of Harley, leader of the Vanguards. He is present with his soldiers at Ground Zero when the Atma virus infects the Junkyard while they are fighting the Embryon. When he is infected, he transforms into Hayagriva and goes berserk, but is forced to retreat in fear due to the Embryon killing and devouring a significant amount of Vanguards.
The Embryon, unable to clearly recall the events of the conflict, visit Svadhisthana for answers from the Vanguards, but Harley attacks them out of fear and nearly involuntarily transforms into Hayagriva, but is interrupted by the sight of his men transforming into demons and flees. The Embryon chase and corner him, forcing him to transform and fight the Embryon, but he is slain.
Harley's Solar Data appears in the Sun, mindlessly blocking access to the 3rd layer. He transforms into Hayagriva, but is defeated once more.
