Profile
The Vanguards are one of the six tribes of the Junkyard, led by Harley, operating from Svadhisthana. The Vanguards' uniform is gendered: the male uniform consists of wrappings with green accents over the head and arms and the gray suit over a black bodysuit common to each tribe. The female uniform forgoes the wrappings in favor of a hat with a long rectangular cloth on the back and a long skirt. Some members additionally wear goggles or eyepieces. They are seen fighting with automatic crossbows as opposed to firearms, which can use explosive bolts.

Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner
The Vanguards are one of the smaller tribes in the Junkyard, only seen competing with the Embryon. They have a standoff at Ground Zero, where the Atma virus is unleashed upon the Junkyard and both tribes turn into violent demons. The Embryon scare Harley into hiding in Svadhisthana by devouring his men, but the Embryon find him when looking for answers. Harley is driven to transform into Hayagriva, then is killed by the Embryon, giving them control of the Vanguards. The Vanguards are the only tribe to be defeated before the tribes were visited by Angel at the Karma Temple
