Dokkaebi is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
A dokkaebi[a] is a type of supernatural spirit in Korean culture. Dokkaebi are believed to form when a common household object is stained with human blood. They are in various forms, but mostly as a man[1] wearing hanbok.[2] However, their modern depiction resembles the Japanese Oni, a result of influence from the Japanese colonial period.[3] They are also known as Dokkakgwi,[b] meaning "One-Legged Ghost", which is said to move around by hopping on a single foot.[4]
Design
Dokkaebi has the character 鬼, meaning "ghost", on its hat.
In Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner, Dokkaebi has two legs, though this was changed to a single leg in Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers.[5]
Their pose resembles that of the Jiangshi, the Chinese hopping vampires.[6]

| Devil Survivor: Overclocked
|
A demon said to dwell in the Korean Peninsula. He loves to play pranks, but will give treasure if befriended. Tokebi lives in sparsely populated areas, such as thick woods, graveyards, wastelands, and deserted houses. If someone succeeds in getting along with them, they will gain fortune, but if they fail, they will face harsh retaliation.
Tokebi are said to be worn-out tools, such as old brooms and irons. When these are tied to a tree, they will show their true form in the morning.

| Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker
|
A demon said to dwell in the Korean Peninsula. They love to play pranks and are rumored to be quite fond of wrestling and other games. They live in sparsely populated areas, such as thick woods, graveyards, wastelands, and deserted houses. They generally carry a club.

Nomenclature
The word Dokkaebi may be a combination of 'dotgu'[c] (pestle) or 'dot'[d] (fire or seed) and 'abi'[e] (father).[7][8] Another theory suggests it may originate from the Dokkakgwi, which was also used to refer to Dokkaebi.[9][10]
