Brahma, also known as Brahman, is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Origin

Brahma[a] is the creator deity in Hinduism and a member of the Trimurti along with Vishnu the preserver and Shiva the destroyer. The Trimurti embody different aspects of Brahman, a fundamental concept in Hinduism that refers to the ultimate reality which exists in and transcends all things.[b]

Brahma is usually depicted in Hindu iconography as sitting on a lotus flower and having four faces. His vāhana (vehicle/mount) is a haṃsa (goose or swan).

According to the Brahmanda Purana, Brahma created himself within a cosmic egg (the hiraṇyagarbha). Vishnu-focused Hindu traditions instead narrate that Brahma was born from a lotus flower sprouting from Vishnu's navel.

The four Vedas are traditionally believed to have emanated from the four mouths of Brahma. In Hindu narratives, Brahma is frequently depicted as a giver of boons and blessings.

While several pieces of early puranic literature viewed Brahma in high esteem, by the 7th century AD active adoration of Brahma declined severely compared to the other two members of the Trimurti. Later puranas give theological explanations for the lack of Brahma-focused worship; one such example is the Shiva Purana, which narrates that Shiva cursed Brahma not to be worshiped.

In Buddhism, Brahma,[c] rather than a creator god, is a protector of the dharma who rules over the Brahmāloka, a group of high-ranking celestial realms. "Brahma" can also be used as a common noun for any inhabitant of the Brahmāloka, and the specific deity is more precisely called Brahma Sahampati[d] ("Brahma, master of Sahā [our universe]"). After Gautama Buddha's enlightenment, Brahma Sahampati appeared to him and urged him to teach.[1]

Design

In his first design, illustrated by Kazuma Kaneko, Brahman/Brahma is a man with blue skin, four arms, and several faces sitting cross-legged in a yellow lotus. He wears a pointed gold crown adorned with red jewels and hanging cloth, white robes, and white sleeves. His hind arms carry machetes.

In the Devil Children series, Brahma is a haloed azure flame surrounded by blue arm-like tendrils with geometric features.
