Aramisaki is a violent goddess considered to be the Ara Mitama of the Sumiyoshi, three deities of the seas and sailing. When the legendary Empress Jingu of Japan invaded the land of 'Shinra'---that is, the Korean kingdom of Silla---as chronicled in works like the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, she is said to have overwhelmed their armies and been given guidance by Aramisaki, who was sent by the goddess Amaterasu. She is one of several deities enshrined at the Shirayama-Hime Shrine in Ishikawa Prefecture, Shirayama-Hime being another name for Kikuri-Hime. Aramisaki is described as 'jealous' and as a goddess of separation as Aramisakihime, likely as a reflection of Kikuri-Hime's role as a goddess of marriage and love.
