Origin

Spica, whose Bayer designation is α Virginis, is the brightest star in the Virgo constellation. Together with Denebola and Arcturus it forms the Spring Triangle asterism.

The name of Spica's race in Japanese, (角宿一 suboshii), comes from the Chinese name for the star, (角宿一 Jué Xiù Yī).
