Momunofu is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Momunofu is an archaic pronunciation of Monou (桃生), a former district and town located in Miyagi Prefecture in the Tohoku region of Japan. The prefecture was restructured in 2005 and both the district and town of Monou were abolished.

Momunofu's portrayal in the Megami Tensei franchise comes from the Tsugaru Soto Sangunshi, a document purported to detail the history of the Tohoku region. However, this document was a forgery created by Kihachirō Wada in the 1970s. Wada claimed Momunofu referred to servants of Arahabaki.
