Shohei Yakumo is a character in Shin Megami Tensei V.
Profile
Shohei Yakumo is a major character in Shin Megami Tensei V who represents the Neutral alignment alongside Nuwa. He is a human demon hunter who possesses the ability to use magic despite not relying on demons or the Demon Summoning Program.
He wears a blue Japanese police uniform with a red-collared tunic, a black cape with red trim draped over his left shoulder and secured by a black aiguillette, a white aiguillette over his right shoulder, white gloves, knee-high black boots, and a black officer's cap bearing a police emblem. He carries a revolver in a holster on his right hip and a sheathed katana at his left side.
Yakumo expresses a deep hatred for all demons because of their manipulation of humanity, despite maintaining a close relationship with Nuwa. He likewise despises humans who abandon their potential, believing they have become dependent on higher powers rather than their own strength. Although he has a hostile disposition, he usually keeps his emotions in check through a cold and composed demeanor, only occasionally losing his temper and lashing out.

Shohei Yakumo is first encountered in the Tokyo Diet Building, where he interrupts the battle between his partner Nuwa and the Nahobino. Although he initially prepares to kill the Nahobino, Nuwa persuades him to stand down, respecting the Nahobino's resolve. When the Nahobino questions their motives, the pair explain that they oppose both Bethel and the demons of chaos.[1] Yakumo condemns the angels for interfering with and subjugating humanity and the other factions, while also criticizing the demons of chaos for their opportunistic and self-serving nature. He then questions the Nahobino about his views on God's rule over the world.

- ↑ "Nuwa: The God of Law has warred with the other gods since time immemorial. However, the God of Law gained the upper hand when He robbed the other demons of their Knowledge, debasing them to their current states. Both God and his cronies in Bethel have absolute faith in the rule of law, and His armies continue to meddle in this realm to protect His order. Such Zealotry cannot be permitted. Ergo, these angels were dealt with accordingly. Which is not to say those that rebel against the God of Law are any better, of course. Opportunistic cretins, for the most part, seeking chaos to fulfill their own selfish desires." Shin Megami Tensei V. Developed by ATLUS.

- ↑ "Male Researcher: Let's see... a lot of strong spiritual power on his mother's side of the family. Goes back multiple generations. And his father was a police officer who served the people. Well-liked, too-a good reputation. But both of them were killed when Yakumo was very young... and evidence suggests that the Qadištu were the ones behind that, in actuality. Having lost his parents that early, and considering his own spiritual sensitivity, it looks like Yakumo was alone for most of his adolescent life." Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.
