The Messian Church, known as the Order of Messiah in the PlayStation 2 localization of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, is a recurring religious group in the Shin Megami Tensei series. The Messians are devout followers of God and believe that He will save them from disaster through prayer.[1] A core belief of the Church is that God will send a Messiah who will usher in a new age of peace and prosperity,[2] known as the Millennium Kingdom or the Thousand-Year Kingdom,[3] while those who reject God will perish. The Messian Church values peace and equality through rigorous order and discipline, deemed necessary for their continued survival. As such, the Messian Church embodies the Law Alignment.
The Messiah Church's principles are in conflict with the Ring of Gaea, another recurring group in the series who instead value freedom and oppose a singular God. The two groups are often seen at war with one another.
In some games, followers of the Messian Church are encountered as Recruitable Humans, in which "Messian" is used as a Demon Race.
