Origin

Camael is an angel in occult traditions, associated with the planet Mars. He is listed in Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy. The given Hebrew spelling is כמאל. Agrippa says he is one of the seven angels who stand before the face of God (Revelation 8:2). The angel of Mars is named Samael in Pseudo-Peter of Abano's Heptameron and in Johannes Trithemius's De septem secundeis.
